Working Holiday Visa in Australia

Employed college students and young professionals nowadays have a different outlook in life, especially when it comes to employment. Most of the time, the young generation prefers to multi-task. They combine leisure and work for a more efficient end.

This is the reality to which the Australian government is exposed. Thus, to go with the flow, they have implemented a program which could satisfy the nature of the young workforce today. It is called the Australia’s Work and Holiday Visa Program, and under its directives, the Working Holiday Visa is issued.

The Working Holiday Visa is granted to foreign college students and young professionals between the ages of 18 and 30, who wish to work in Australia during their holidays. This visa grants a total of six months of stay in the country, under a single employer.

Other than the age bracket, applicants for a Working Holiday Visa must comply with the following requirements:

  • Valid passport
  • Financial capacity to fund the travel to Australia
  • Strong ties with the home country
  • Medical certificate
  • Police clearance
  • accomplished health and character requirements

This program implemented by the Australian government is a strong attestation of the country’s determination to be of assistance to other nations. Working Holiday visa holders are given greater and better opportunity of job trainings in Australia. In the short span of time that they are going to work in the Land Down Under, they are honed to be a better part of the work force, not just of Australia, but of their own country as well.

However, only those countries with which Australia has an agreement with, can participate in the program. Sad to say, the Philippines is not in the list. Countries that are lucky enough to be included are the following:

  • Republic of Cyprus
  • Denmark
