Conducting Business in the Philippines



Despite being a third world country, the Philippines is continuously proving its worth when it comes to economic stabilization. Such movement appeals to many foreign investors, convincing them to start their businesses in the Philippines.

The Philippine Business Visa allows them to do that. Technically known as the 9(A) visa, it is valid for 59 days, and may be extended up to two (2) years. It gives foreign businessmen the opportunity to conduct business trips, and a chance to tour the country.

Eligibility

The Philippine Business Visa is given to foreign nationals who meet the following qualifications:

  • Purpose of travel is to conduct business trips in the Philippines
  • Has the capability to finance the travel
  • Do not intend to circumvent the law
  • Complied with all the stated requirements


Requirements

Here are the requirements:

  • Visa application form
  • Valid passport
  • Passport photo
  • copy of round trip ticket reservation/itinerary
  • evidence to prove financial capability
  • letter of invitation from company in the Philippines
  • letter from the foreign company stating the purpose for travel


The immigration officer has all the right to demand for additional documents if deemed necessary. Original documents must be submitted with photocopies, and letters, affidavits and translated documents shall be notarized.

Additional Requirements

Businessmen from non-restricted countries are allowed to conduct business trips in the Philippines without a visa for twenty one (21) days. Requirements are as follow:

  • valid passport
  • round trip tickets
  • proof of financial capability


Process

In applying for a Philippine Business Visa, this procedure should be undertaken:

  1. Lodging of application at the nearest Philippine embassy/consulate general
  2. Submission of requirements
  3. Payment of application fees
  4. Processing of visa
  5. Issuance of visa


It is a generally easy process but things could go out of hand if the alien has limited knowledge of the Philippine laws. Thus, it is advised that one obtain assistance from visa processing companies whose expertise is on the business visa. Doing so would simplify the whole process more and would give the applicant a greater assurance of an approved application.
